Title: Retraction as a cultural thing
Post by: pelagian on 2015-10-05 14:28:20
I am wondering about societies that practice retraction. It is supposed to be common among the Japanese, though for every post I read online saying it is, there is one saying it's not!

I also recall reading some where that some of the native American (is that the correct term these days?) tribes practise(d) it also.

Just browsing porn sites I would say it's more common in Latin America and in East Asia.  Certainly not limited to Japan, seen plenty of bare-headed Chinese and Thai and Vietnamese people too — but Indians for example are very typical to be covered unless circumcised for some reason.

I've actually seen a surprising number of retracted Indian dudes! Though their population is enormous, so maybe it's not as popular as it seems...

I was aware that it's common in Japan but didn't know about Latin America and east Asia.  I wonder if it's something that's common in uncircumcised American males.  My inclination is to say that it is because circumcision is so prevalent here having a bare glans is the norm. I started retracting when I was in my early 20s because I felt out of place at the gym. I wonder how many others started to because they also felt out of place.

There does also seem to be a genetic thing of East Asians generally having shorter foreskins anyway, so the retract almost on their own.

I don't really buy that, without some kind of study.

What I can say is that in Germany most uncircumcised people don't retract. In gym changing room I saw only 1 or 2 "retractors" apart from myself among dozens of guys who don't do it. Of course the sample is much too small to be representative in any way.

Just a handful of Indian dudes I've seen who are either probably or almost certainly retractors --

I remember a video on, I think, xtube where someone got Japanese taxi drivers to show their cocks (and sometimes then wank). Well over half were already retracted when they got their cock out. There was some discussion about it with a slightly odd translation. I think it's been removed as I can't now find it.
This seemed to support the view that it is common in Japan, or at least was. I think the drivers were mostly 30+.

Just a temporary traffic spike, I'm sure. Try again!

Yes, it was! A good lot of pulled back foreskins there that look to be permanent.

Right? And doing a search there for guys from India comes up with so many more, too.

(And as a side note, think of "too many connections" as like a busy signal on the phone -- computer servers can only talk to so many other computers at once!)
