Title: Should I tie my frenulum or not? (with pictures)
Post by: Loveboy100 on 2018-03-21 20:20:19
Hi everybody, since I have discovered this site I have been trying to keep my penis retracted, with mixed success.
Right now I am wondering if I should tie my frenulum as I don't have a tight frenulum at all, but it seems however to be pulling the foreskin forward over my glans despite not being so tight.

I hope you guys can give me some advice on what to do. I have added pictures, going from erect to semi-erect.

And the last four pictures:

It depends on what you want. Your frenulum is not very active, but it does pull the skin forward some. Tying it off could reduce the pull, but I doubt that it will magically make your foreskin stay back on its own all the time. Loosing the frenulum should make training it to stay back easier, but you will still have to train it like the rest of us.

Hmmm. It doesn't look very short tbh. I doubt it's what's causing the skin to go forward. It looks more like you have a lot of skin on the shaft that's pushing it forward.

I know, and yet I can't seem to get the spoon method to work. Shouldn't that be very easy with a long foreskin?

Not necessarily, the spoon method is pretty damn fiddly and doesn't work unless you've got a very specific kind of dick.

Are you a grower or a shower?

I am a grower

Yeah that's... usually the main issue :P Spoon method just doesn't work for growers cause the shaft skin will roll forward anyway, or it'll come undone when erect.

Have you tried any other techniques?

Disagree. He looks very uncut with a naturally minimal frenulum, which looks far better than a scarred cut.

Loveboy100, tying your frenulum will do nothing to help keep the foreskin back. I agree with Soundsgreat that it is probably the force of the foreskin on the shaft trying to return to an uncompressed position. If that forward pressure is greater than the resistance that the corona of the glans puts on the ridged band, then the foreskin will roll on to the head. Having a thick foreskin and loose ridged band means this is quite likely to happen.

I think the spoon method also doesn't work well if you have thick inner foreskin and loose ridged band.

Yes, I am currently (since two weeks) trying a silicone glans ring. This works pretty good, except when I sleep my foreskin comes back over the glans sometimes.

This is the ring I use:

I realize tying my frenulum will not magically make my foreskin stay forward, but wouldn't it help a bit?

Also: do you guys think I can ever reach a state of permanent retraction (a state where I stay retracted without helping tools)?

I think the frenulum does less to "pull the foreskin forward" than a lot of guys seem to think. I feel like it works more like a "ramp" to help the foreskin start to roll over the glans along the bottom, and then it can continue to wrap around to the top of the corona.

Whether or not you can achieve retraction with no assistance can't really be answered ;D it's very individual.

That being said, the ring looks like it's working pretty well! The skin rolling forward at night might just be a temporary thing, so keep at it. If that continues being a problem, you might get a thicker ring to wear at night to make sure it can't roll forward.

You could buy a sheet of silicon on eBay and make your own ring. That way you can customise to your own requirements and make it wider so your foreskin can't slide over at night.

That's an interesting theory, but then still, it will less function as a "ramp" if I tie it?

Thanks for the advice! You may even be right, as last night I woke up for the first time with my foreskin still retracted!  :D

After tying mine, it does seem less likely to roll forward on its own. But honestly, the effect is small. What tying it did enable me to do, however, was wear it in new ways, with rings and folding, that I wasn't able to before (at least not comfortably).

And great! ;D

Thanks for the answer, I am definitely going to tie once.
Cheers!

Loveboy100, I freed my frenulum 65 years ago with the then suggestion that it would help keep the foreskin back. It did to some degree but required further assistance. What I did at that time was I used a thin, stretchy band (as described on an other thread). I made it from liquid latex but silicone would be a better substance.

A proper sized ring would be placed on the foreskin about half an inch below the corona. Placing it so causes a thick lump that then must be forced over the corona to cover the glans. I used this technique for years, attending a nudist resort and people would have thought I was cut.

Upon developing deep shaft skin wrinkles later, I was able to be totally pulled back that required taping to have the glans covered.

I don't quite get this method. So you placed the ring not directly under the glans, but half an inch below? How does this help? Can you maybe post a picture to illustrate this technique?

I think he means so the skin between the ring and the glans makes a ring-shaped bump. That will prevent the ring from slipping forward over the glans.

Basically what it is, you pull the shaft skin back so the inner foreskin is stretched and simply place the stretchy ring a half inch or so from the corona. I am not referring to firm rings, but of stretchy material so that it has tension when flaccid and still has ability to comfortably  accommodate  an erection. To achieve this ring, you will more than likely have to make one with varying sizes and thickness to achieve your goal. Properly done, the ring is buried in the foreskin and cannot be seen when the foreskin moves to its normal position.

I would tie that off, its really small it should be cut through in 3 days. That way you can pull the foreskin all the way back without the glans tipping.

Since this GIF is not mine, only that it basically shows what I was trying to explain, yes, I do believe that would be an ordinary rubber band. While a right sized band of this kind might work, it also could be a bit uncomfortable where the homemade ones I described would be softer and more flexible.

I see. Would it be possible to post a picture of your method though? I don't get what you mean with a self made silicone ring?

with a few decades of experience living with a cut frenulum I am a strong advocate of this. For me it works wonders and my foreskin never rolls back over the head spontaneous. Will it work for you? I doubt it. Looking at the pics you posted and especially the two last ones I think your foreskin's thickness compared to the size of your corona is not the ideal combination and makes it easy for the skin to flip back over. So unless you like to experience the ability to pull your skin really far back without being stopped by the frenulum, you might try another method to keep your glans out in the open.

Yeah, I think I will probably tie it in the future anyway. Just because I am so curious as to what the results would be.
What pull back technique can you guys suggest for my type of penis?

Back in October/November 2016 I posted some info on making latex/silicone rings. I have attached the diagram that was then used. Basically, you need a mandrel just smaller than your member. Apply either a thin layer of liquid latex rubber or silicone cement to the mandrel, it is allowed to dry and then rolled to form a ring as illustrated. You will need to experiment with mandrel diameter, the thickness of the applied cement/length of application, to arrive at a suitable ring for your purposes. Hope this helps
