At first I would suggest that at first you should check wether their foreskin is too tight.
If not, then start with folding method (spoon method) (for about 3 month).
After that, they could just leave that, or should try to just pull back and leave it bunched up behind the glans (coronal ridge)

Thank you all for the help and advice. I actually ended up asking my sister in law how my nephews manage it and it turns out the older one kind of pulls back and then slowly rolls the skin back inside itself? (which I think is like your spoon method?), but now it seems to just stay in place. My younger nephew just pulled back and it stayed there and has pretty much ever since. She has never seen it forward again. (weird!) So I told my son that what his cousin does is to try pull back are far as he could without hurting himself and then slowly roll it forward and tuck it under and after a bit of practics that seems to have sort of worked. Reading your posts I seem to have told him the right thing by the look of it.
I am actually a little suprised but he has stuck with it from what I have noticed at bath time and around the pool. I was a little concerned at first because his little head looks very shiny and red and looks to me like it should be quite sore, so I did ask him about it and he said it doesnt really hurt its just very" ticklish".  I said he must let me know if it starts to hurt. Hubby says they are red when they are fist exposed.
Anyway its all very odd to me. LOL. What is it with you boys and your penises!! ! Hahaha!
Gotta say, it does look kinda cute tho! Whatever floats his boat, I guess. 😂

It seems like the more like the 2nd method, then spoon, but it doesn't really matter.
You should make sure about 2 things.
1) when it comes to bath, it should be cleaned just as usual. So wash the inner foreskin too, otherwise it may start to smell
2) if the foreskin will be tucked in over night, you (or father) should make sure, that it is not too tight during erections. (He might not necessarily wake up to that. So it's better to be safe then sorry)

You didn't say how old he is but when a boy is young he or you can pull his foreskin back as far as possible behind the glans without causing pain and it may stay there eventually. This means a few years of retracting it probably while his penis grows without enlarging the foreskin with it. For now it might be easier and better if you can monitor it to be sure it's not too tight back there. If he doesn't mind being pantless in the house It may work better, as underpants have a tendency to allow it to go forward with the movement of rubbing around in there. If it's out where it's visible that makes it easier for you to monitor it. It will also help him with the sensitivity as that allows it to get dried out by the air and would only bother him on the rare occasion that it contacts something.
The pinkness is caused by having the glans covered by the foreskin all it's life. Given time and exposure to the air it should look and feel just like your husband's.
After saying all that, I've never found a way to make mine stay back so don't be discouraged if it won't stay back.
Did I mention I wish I'd had a mom to help me when I was young? I think you're a terrific mom.

Curiousmom you are a wonderful person for asking this question. Help and encourage your son to try this out. He is exploring his body and finding what he likes. If he can master this then he will always be in command of what, where, and when he is seen. His future sex life will benefit. His hygiene will benefit. All of the risks of staying forward will be gone. His future girlfriends will enjoy his capabilities. He may not stick with it and forgot about it in a week. But years from now when he is a teenager he'll remember this moment and it will be a part of his personal development as his brain starts working like an adult.

If he sticks with it. You don't need to worry about him in the locker room. Cut men have asked me what cut did I get. I had a very tight foreskin when I realized that I wanted to roll back. If your son can already roll back then he is half way there imo.

If he is determined he may try use something unsafe to hold his skin back. So provide him with medical tape or small cockring to try on. If he has trouble help him. After a few weeks. The skin will likely stay back.

Does this seem familiar in ways. Your son needs guidance from his father about his manhood. You may be looking at your son like a boy but this is his first step towards manhood. All these kinds of things are really important.

Anyways your son should talk to his cousins about what they are doing. You should encourage that peer to peer conversations. They will tell him how they've been able to do this. They can share stories and feelings together which is important.

I think many boys are more comfortable talking to their moms about things. It never bothered me having my mom touch me either so you could possibly help him by holding it back as much as you can for him. Touching it as much as possible will help the "ticklishness" go away. Curious... if your husband is circumcised... why didn't you have your son done?

I think auto circumcision  is an awesome option for teens and grown men like myself though if it had been my choice, I would  have just need snipped as a baby or older but before becoming sexually active. Autocircumsion is definitely good for men who wish to have the appearance of being cut without going all the way or are dealing with foreskin issues related to tightness.

Do you live in a place where that is the norm?
