Did any of you grow up with circumcised fathers/stepfathers? Did it affect you?

It's more common for uncut men to immigrate and have sons that are circumcised. My father was cut as a young man for medical reasons but he did not believe circumcision should be routine. So my situation may be unusual having an immigrant father from Europe that was circumcised and me being with a foreskin. Seeing him may have influenced me to retract, off and on over the years. Now I'm on the way to keeping it retracted all the time. Anybody have any similar experience, especially living in a society where most men are cut?

My father was circumcised while I was left intact. My mother was a progressive, and also born in CA and lots of my peers were also intact. We never really spoke about it tho. And I don't have the same generational immigration story as you....so I hope this isn't a totally useless response...

I didn't want to be like him, but I had rationalized that eventually my foreskin would naturally retract as I got older and then I'd look like him. I think I've seen other intact men describe a similar belief taking hold for them probably before or during puberty.

I think I believed my dick would grow through my foreskin as I grew up. Then as I got older and saw porn or guys in locker rooms, I saw foreskins with overhang and realized that this doesn't happen. Maybe it happens to some guys.

I was born in the U.S. and my father was circumcised, but I wasn't. Him being the first man I saw naked, and him being different from me sparked my curiosity of what was different about me, and then seeing that everyone else as I grew up at school, the gym, the pool, etc. were all circumcised definitely solidified it in my mind. Looking back, all this started me off on my retraction journey (and my desire to eventually get cut), but my dad being circumcised was definitely the spark of it all.

Although my father is not circumcised, I observed at early age, probably around 5 or 6 that not all looked the same and my first awakening occurred with my father while we were taking a shower together. I am positive I had his penis at other times, but never really paid close attention.

My father definitely has a foreskin but his always stayed retracted. I knew mine retracted, don't know if I just figured retraction on my own or perhaps I was taught to retract it while peeing. I know my father commented on pulling the skin back when peeing because my mom complained about the puddles on the floor. I had never made any real attempts to keeping it retracted but did like to pull the foreskin back just to see the head. On this event with my dad, having seeing my dad pull his down while soaping up and rinsing in the shower and seeing it retract on its own, I followed his steps but mine wouldn't stay back like his. After that shower incident, I started to focus on keeping my foreskin back. As I got older, my efforts got better to where it stayed retracted the majority of the time with only the occasional pull back.

So yes, my father was a huge influence.

I had showers with my dad as a kid. He was always half retracted. We never talked about it. He just let me grow up and find my own way. And ways. It was just two guys having a shower. My mother was a different story. But that would go off topic too much. My sister even worse.

My dad made me very straight-friendly though. I can shower with my plumber and my gardener. And no accidents would happen, even when someone would drop the soap.

(Cont.) Can't say it affected me in any way though... my culture isn't so open even between parent & child. I don't think my child self cared that much about the difference between us and eventually I just figured out retracting on my own via internet.

Not me, my dad was uncut and had a long foreskin (he didn't leave it retracted)

My father was circumcised and I seen his penis when growing up. I just assumed that when I was older my penis would be like his. I was taught to retract about age 7 or 8 and would often leave it back during and after bathing thinking I looked like my father. I started pulling back in the sense of this site about age 14. My father definitely had an influence on me having my glans bare.

12yo, 6th grade. It's for hygiene, or that's what people outside non-Muslims like to believe. But my parents understood it's not absolutely necessary, at least. So all they left me with was a reminder to be mindful and keep it clean.
