No fap
« on: 2020-06-17 11:24:01 »
Hi guys,

I'm just curious to see if there were any other guys on here that abstain from porn or masterbation?

I've been trying (and relapsing) for about 6 months now. My longest streak lasted 60 days before "peeking at porn" and knocking one out 😩.

I'm currently on a streak of 16 days and already it's starting to have a possitive effect on my confidence and testosterone levels.

I've abstained from porn since at least 5 years and hope to do so for the rest of my life.

For the other thing you mention in your question no I haven't abstained from it, nor do I see any need to, but sometimes I've spent maybe 1 month or so without feeling like doing it.

If it is a problem for you to stay away from porn or masturbation, you may have a sex addiction problem.  There are programs that could help you with this.  Maybe you need help getting it done.

There is now a good body of evidence that suggests that regular ejaculation prevents prostate and testicular problems. It's also known that testosterone levels peak about a week after ejaculation and then gradually reduce after that, so abstaining for longer than that isn't really going to have a benefit.

As Ft56009 mentioned, addiction to porn or sex is a real thing. But I feel like the "nofap movement" is a sort of weird response to it. There's not just two options, "addicted" and "abstinent." There are other, healthier ways to deal with the problem.

IMO porn ruins your sexuality because it removes your abilitiy to create sexual fantasms by your own by substituing ones from porn films you watched. This suck, making own your own fantasm is much better for your sexuality.

Porn movies are entierely fake, few are actually loving couple making it on the camera, because it's less impressive (even if infinitely more beautiful).

Also I'm fairly sure our beloved female partners are not ok about us watching porn, and we should respect that in order to better enjoy them.

I'm not discounting the validity of porn addiction, and I believe that yes, too much porn can have a number of negative psychological effects.

But be careful with assumptions of "women like..." or "women don't like..." Making broad assumptions about groups of people leads to misunderstandings at best, or discrimination at worst.

As a gay man looking into the world of heterosexuality, it's kind of sad how many awful stereotypes the sexes seem to have for one another, treating each other almost like alien races. Neither men nor women are monolithic in their opinions.

What I'm saying is: treat your romantic and sexual partners as intellectual equals, and don't assume they think a certain way because of their gender :) I'm sure there are plenty of women who are okay with their male partners watching porn. Communicate!

From your replies soundsgreat87, it sounds like you have a very healthy understanding of sexuality. While I may have had the odd look at porn over my many years, it is something that one definitely shouldn't be gotten into in an obsessive manner since, as you succinctly point out, is about as real as a $3 dollar bill! As far as emptying the prostate on a regular basis, be it masturbation or regular sex, it has always been my understanding this should be done on a regular basis for keeping it healthy. Its almost like not evacuating the bowels on a regular basis. Especially for the younger gents.

Further to my last post, it is as I like to say about the genders, and it gets both mad at me, "Women are undeveloped males and men are fully developed females." There's that much difference since we are all conceived female and the implanted chromosome sets what we are.

I definitely have an addiction to sex/porn or pretty much anything that releases dopamine in my brain. I've beaten other addictions in my past I'm fairly confident I will beat this one ( I'm not quitting sex just porn and masterbation)

Trust me I couldn't go longer than a week without ejaculation. When I don't watch porn or masturbate regularly, I get way more action.

Congratulations ! I hope you'll be successful. Also IMO there's no need to quit masturbation, just porn.

I kind of understand why it gets both sexes mad at you... that's not only factually incorrect but a horrible way to think about women.

At its most basic level, if men were "fully developed women" they would be able to become pregnant and give birth to children, making a woman obsolete. The fact that women even exist is proof that they are a necessary part of human life.

I’m also No Fap. I found that I was masturbating to often and taking away my horniness from my girlfriend.

I stopped and it’s been very positive. You just have to think of something to do and to fill the time instead of having a w*ank. My gf has been more than happy to oblige although I can’t ask her to carry on with the frequency of when I did it myself.

It’s definitely made me more sexual & horny and improved our sex life.
