Yes in Japan, boys are made to keep their foreskins pulled back. But here, the trend is as soon as one reach 10-12+ foreskin should be fully retractable or made retractable by stretching and should be kept retracted while bathing.
Mine was not retractable, almost pinhole phimosis so used manual stretching. After it was fixed I started to keep it retracted all the time. The result is that foreskin became short and it now automatically stays behind glans.

Yea  I started when I 14 and it stay retracted on its own though my college years then I started putting on weight and it all pulled forward. Now I'm only able to stay retracted with the help of different devices (cockrings). Maybe if I loose some pound it would stay retracted. (Not to change the subject)

I pulled my foreskin back for the first time at the age of 11 after working on the tight opening for some time. I started keeping it skinned back pretty much immediately because I had promised myself that if I ever succeeded in exposing my glans I would keep it exposed and within a few months it was permanent - well, for the next 20 years. I chose to be circumcised at the age of 31. I think I found it so easy because I started so early and had a fairly short foreskin with an opening that started off being too tight but which stretched and loosened very quickly.
